Sociology Department

Department of Sociology was established in 2014 in our college. It offered B.A. course, with 34 students in the session 2015–16. Currently there are around 90 students enrolled in the course. Dr. Darshana Pant is Head In-charge of the department since 29th July 2024. She has 01 Ph.D. scholar registered under supervision.

The department has created a profile including both students and teachers. Various programmes are organized such as Student Parliament, Quiz competitions, Poster making, Speech contests, etc. The department has implemented a new Curriculum & syllabus under NEP-2020, actively engaging students in learning, unlearning and relearning processes to understand Indian society.

B.A. Sociology is a bachelor-level course in sociology with a duration of three years. It is a social science that emphasizes systematic methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop and refine knowledge about human social activity. A degree in Sociology provides an understanding of the structure and organization of society, and how humans interact within it.

There are various types of job opportunities after B.A. Sociology such as Teacher, Home Tutor & Lecturer, Social Survey Researcher, Labour Leader & Mediator, Employment Service Assistant, Community Service Worker, Census Worker, Research Assistant. The various areas for job after B.A. Sociology includes Educational Institutes, Criminal Justice Field, Human Services, Labour Unions, Business, Industrial Relations, Trade Associations, Research Organizations.
