The Department of Sociology was established in the year 2014. It only offers B.A. program. First admission in the department started in the session 2015-16, with a total number of 34 students. At present a total number of 102 students have opted for the sociology discipline in B.A. It aims to strengthen the basic foundation of political science with papers like Introductory Sociology, Indian Social System, Social Change in India, Technique of Social Survey and Social Research, History of Sociological Thought, and Applied Sociology. It has formed a departmental profile which comprises of both students and teachers, to conduct various events like student parliament, competitions like quiz, poster making, speech etc. Dr. Chandra Prakash is working as in-charge of the department from September 2019. There are 02 Ph.D. students enrolled under him. The department has implemented new syllabus and courses under NEP 2020. The department is working actively to encourage students to learn, unlearn and gather knowledge about Indian social system.
