Shri Ram Singh Dhoni Govt. Degree College Jainti Almora was the result of fireless efforts of local representative Sri Govind Singh Kunjwal. Thus the college came into existence in 1996 starting in the premises of Sarvodaya inter college, Jainti. With the passage of time other subjects e.g Economics, Sociology, Geography, English literature, Sanskrit and Science were initiated. In the session 2018-19 Dr. Tabbsum Naz was the head of department who initiated many activities. In the new session 2019-20 and 2020-21 India saw the outbreak of corona and Jainti degree college suffered too. Teaching went into online mode through Teach mint and Google Meet. Even the University promoted its Students in the session 2021&22 for classes of B.A. Ist year & B.A IInd year. For the session 2020-21 and 2021-22 Dr. Laxmi Manral became the in-charge of Economics Department. During this session she organised many seminars and workshops to encourage the students. In the month of August 2022 Rakesh Bisht was transferred from Govt. Degree College Maldhanchaur to Govt. Degree College Jainti. As the subject Economics introduced quantitative methods in its syllabus. The number of students enrolled in Economics fell remarkably. At present there are a total number of 26 students at U.G. level.
