The Department of Commerce at Shri Ram Singh Dhoni Govt. Degree College, Jainti came into existence on 31 March, 1996. The college is affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. Since its inception, the department is imparting quality education to the students for degree of B. Com. Besides, at present the department is also running a Ph.D programme. No doubt, these programmes are not only catering to the needs of business and industry, these are providing an opportunity to the local aspirants to become business executives. The faculty members are well equipped and actively engaged in teaching and research. The department has also formed Commerce Association in which students take up various extracurricular activities including seminars, sports, debates, quiz, swachhata abhiyan and different competitive activities. Apart from classroom teaching there is a constant effort to enhance student learning and bring them in contact with the corporate world. Recently the department has adopted syllabus recommended by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as per the National Education Policy 2020 for graduate programme spread over three years. Presently the Department of Commerce is being run under the academic leadership of Dr. Manoj Kumar Pant (Assistant Professor& Head). He has vast teaching, research and administrative experience of more than 15 years. He has published a number of research papers in national and international journals. He has delivered many invited Lectures. He along with his colleague Mr. Prabhdeep Singh (Assistant Professor) is dedicated to fulfill the mission and vision of the department.
