Sanskrit Department
The Department of Sanskrit is one of the founding departments of the College, beginning in 1996. In the year 2015, the department started M.A. programme. The department offers courses such as Modern Drama, prose, poetry, fiction such as panchtantra and hitopadesh, Indian culture and philosophy, Indian epics, Vedas, and Upnishads such as Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagvat Geeta, Manusmiriti etc. The courses along with literature help the students learn the basics of Sanskrit language and grammar through writing and pronunciation. Recently the department has adopted syllabus recommended by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as per the National Education Policy 2020. Continuous evaluation of students is done through presentations, internal assessments and viva. Dr. Ritesh Prasad Tamta has joined the department in the year 2021 as a permanent faculty. He is dedicated to the process of teaching-learning as well as research. He has 01 Ph.D. student under his supervision. There are a total number of 68 students at U.G. level and 06 students at P.G. level. The department also has a departmental council composed of students.
